In honor of this joyous celebration, I thought I would share with you some jewelry ideas and throw in a sentimental, vintage story that I have from my wedding.
Many brides want to do something different and special for bridesmaids gifts. And depending on how many girls they have in attendance, cost could be a factor as well.
{Enter Whitney's senario...}
I had 9 bridesmaids (don't judge) and wanted something different; different but special. I came up with the idea of incorporating "cake pull" charms as a gift to the girls. (I'm told that this is a south Louisiana tradition, but I'm not sure.)
I found these sterling charms and what they mean:
*baby booty- a life with happy, healthy children
*airplane- a life of adventure and travel
*rose- a life of beauty
*anchor- a life of stability
*rings- engagement in the near future
*eiffel tower- a life of travel
*owl- a life of wisdom
*cross- a life of peace
*heart- your love is a true love
To give this bracelet a different look, I put the charms on strands of leather, which is trendy and cost efficient! As the trends change, I figured they could put their charm on a charm bracelet later on if desired.
This is a special gift because I put much thought into who would get what charm. I also found Scripture to go with each of the personalities and charms as well.
This was one of my sisters bracelets:
Ashley Beth: Airplane: a life of adventure and travel.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
I think the girls were pleased with their gift. I also gave them a little pearl earring to go along with it. I didn't care if they wore it the day of the wedding, but I think most of them did.
Continuing on with today's theme of "different and special" in the wedding department, I'll move on to my cake top...
This was my maternal grandmother's crystal love birds. I don't know how old they are, but let's just call them vintage.
It was such a special touch to have my nana's love birds on the top of my wedding cake. The details are what made my wedding so sweet. Well, that and having a wonderful, Godly, sweet, smart, amazing man that I was about to marry.
I wish you love and a "different, special" day if you are planning for an upcoming wedding. Sometimes, the sweetest, most memorable pieces that you can incorporate into your wedding are right under your nose. Dust them off, get creative, and see what you find!
